Heli-Hiking | Alpine Lakes & Wildflowers



This guided interpretive alpine walk is perfect for those who would like a short and easy hike amongst alpine lakes and seasonal wildflowers. You will explore through a spectacular area with vistas of some of the highest peaks on Vancouver Island including the Golden Hinde, Mt. Tom Taylor and endless views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, enabling you to witness the transition from the rugged alpine to the lush coastal rainforest of Clayoquot Sound. Includes approximately 1 hour of flying and a 1 hour interpretive hike with ACMG certified guide.

All times are approximate and are subject to weather 9:00am - Check in with Long Beach Nature Tours to get an update on the weather and the days' plan. 10:30am - Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive to the Long beach Airport where the helicopter will be waiting. 11:00am - Helicopter safety briefing. 11:30am - Take off from Long Beach and into the mountains we go! Early afternoon - Your guide will drive you back to your hotel.

Introductory You will need a reasonable level of fitness. You will need to be able to walk 3-4 hours at a time on undulating paths. There are no trails on this walk and will be hiking through alpine terrain. You do not need to have any previous hiking experience before you join this tour. You will receive instructions and a full briefing by your experienced hiking guide before you set off. Content with the occasional steep section but primarily gradual. Few hazards such as uneven terrain and slippery rocks. Good mobility required. Will take place in a remote location. Suitable for ages 12 and up.

We recommend you wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor exercise and close-toed shoes suitable for hiking. It's always a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket or an additional layer such as a warm sweater as coastal weather can change quickly - even on sunny days! It's also a good idea to pack sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a snack and your camera! We ask that you please bring your own reusable water bottle - we're working to reduce plastic waste. Did you know that Tofino has some of the cleanest and freshest tap water in the world? Our fresh water supply comes from Colnett Mountain on the beautiful Meares Island. If you don't have a bottle of your own; Reusable Bottles are available for purchase at our Storm Light Outfitter's Booking Office along with a variety of outdoor gear.
