The Pacific Rim Coast Trail is considered one of the premier day hikes in Tofino and Ucluelet, an iconic experience within easy reach of both communities. The route is comprised of 4 beautiful beaches and 5 of the National Park's hiking trails. Immerse yourself in the coastal temperate rainforest and discover the rich natural history of Vancouver Island's west coast. Why hike the Pacific Rim Trail with a guide? - We can provide transportation from Tofino to the National Park or you can rendezvous with your guide at the trailhead. These details will be discussed during the booking process. Our National Park shuttle picks up guests at our office or at all major hotels/resorts on route.
Moderate
- You will need a reasonable level of fitness. You will need to be able to walk for 3-4 hours at a time on undulating paths. Most of the trails are hard packed sand, boardwalks and rain forest trails. You do not need to have any previous hiking experience before you join this tour. You will receive instructions and a full briefing by your experienced hiking guide before you set off. Content with occasional steep section but primarily gradual. Few hazards such as uneven terrain and slippery rocks. Good mobility required.
- Suitable for ages 13 and up.
- We recommend you wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor exercise and close-toed shoes suitable for hiking.
- It’s always a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket or an additional layer such as a warm sweater as coastal weather can change quickly – even on sunny days!
- We recommend you bring a camera of course!
- It’s also a good idea to pack sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
- We ask that you please bring your own reusable water bottle – we’re working to reduce plastic waste. Did you know that Tofino has some of the cleanest and freshest tap water in the world? Our fresh water supply comes from Colnett Mountain on the beautiful Meares Island. If you don’t have a bottle of your own; Reusable Bottles are available for purchase at our Storm Light Outfitter’s Booking Office along with a variety of outdoor gear.
