Ian Cruickshank

Ian has been fascinated by the natural world on Vancouver Island from an early age growing up in Coast Salish territory, where he guided nature walks for Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary and the Victoria Natural History Society for 10 years. He brings a background in biology, having studied at the University of Victoria and done biology fieldwork throughout BC, and for the past 6 years as a settler in Nuu-chah-nulth territory on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  His knowledge of birds and their vocalizations is widely appreciated, and with his keen interest in all of the natural world, he will show you a well-rounded picture of local plants, mammals, sea life, and maybe a slug or a frog, too!
