Our Mission & Values
At Long Beach Nature Tours, our mission is to provide an immersive experience that connects people with the Vancouver Island's wild landscapes. We are dedicated to fostering a deeper appreciation for nature, wildlife and cultural heritage. Our goal is to create unforgettable experiences that inspire a lifelong love for the natural world and a commitment to its preservation.
Expert & Professional Guides
After operating for almost 3 decades, Long Beach Nature Tours enjoys an unmatched reputation for its guiding excellence. When on water or trails, our guides are more than boat operators or knowledgeable naturalists; they are seasoned experts with a comprehensive array of professional certifications. Our guides are some of the best in the industry, chosen for their experience, training, judgment and commitment to client care. Each of our guides holds advanced wilderness first aid certification, and some specialize in bear guide training through the Commercial Bear Viewing Association, and interpretive communication credentials from the Interpretive Guides Association. Additionally, they undergo rigorous maritime training with the Marine Guides Association of Canada and extensive guide preparation through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, which upholds some of the highest standards in the industry. With these qualifications and a commitment to our strict Code of Conduct, our guides set the benchmark for professionalism and expertise in outdoor adventure. We are Tofino's only certified member company of the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of British Columbia (CVBA). The CBVA is an association comprised of 24 member companies and their guides across British Columbia, and together they set the industry standards for bear viewing.
Decades of Experience & Expertise
With 29 years of experience leading unforgettable adventures, we’ve perfected the art of guiding. Our decades of hands-on expertise give us unparalleled insight into the landscapes, wildlife, and ever-changing conditions of our region. Each member of our team is highly trained and passionate about providing safe, enriching experiences that connect you deeply with nature. Our commitment to professionalism, safety, and conservation has earned us a reputation as industry leaders.
Our Commitment to Community, Stewardship & the Environment
We believe we have a responsibility to act as stewards of the precious environments and communities where we work. To ensure the places we love stay pristine for other visitors, all of our guides are trained in Leave No Trace principles. With increasing numbers of people engaging in wilderness activities, pristine and fragile coastal and mountain environments will suffer rising impacts. As a professional user who benefits from these areas, our company and guides will make extra effort to minimize impacts, will set an example for other visitors and instruct our guests how to reduce impact. In 2024, we have created the Long Beach Nature Conservation Fund. This is a contribution that will be added to all pre-tax tour fees, ensuring that every adventure with us actively supports the protection and preservation of our west coast ecosystems. This initiative reflects our commitment to making a positive impact on the communities and wildlife areas in which we explore. In every community we visit, we prioritize partnerships with local people. We maintain tourism protocol agreements with First Nations whose territories we explore, acknowledging their governance and traditional lands. These agreements include fees that directly support local communities and outline our shared stewardship principles, aligned with those of First Nations to ensure respectful interaction with the land. Additionally, we collaborate with National and Provincial Parks, conservation areas, and local governments, obtaining all necessary permits to operate responsibly and sustainably across these regions.
