Katrina Kushneryk

Katie has always been happiest when deep in a forest, whether it's one made of kelp or cedar trees. After growing up at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, she moved to the west coast to study marine biology and environmental studies. Passionate about conservation and sharing her joy of the outdoors with others, she has a decade of experience as a naturalist and environmental educator. She’s managed a variety of biological monitoring programs, focusing on everything from forest health to marine habitats. Although most of her career has been spent on the lands and waters around Vancouver Island, a wide range of jobs have led her from the hills of Rwanda to the rainforests of Haida Gwaii, and finally to her to her current position in Nuu-chah-nulth territory.
